Your Day Your face breakouts
By: Victoria Garcia

Do you know the rules to skin care or the guidelines to prevent breakouts? Where should you get your make-up done and by who? When it comes to skin care do you know what to do and what to buy? The importance of knowing an esthetician and maintaining a relationship with her is crucial. Why you should at least have a basic concept of proper skincare. This is going to be everything you need to know so that you look flawless and acne free on the day you have been preparing for months.

Skin Care is an important element in your life, not only now, but also for the rest of your life. Learning how to take care for YOUR skin is very important. Your skin is unique and does not require the same care as your best friend, your mom, or your cousin. You should make an appointment with an Esthetician for a consultation. Esthetics, the non-medical care of the skin, a person trained to administer facials, advise customers on makeup and the care of skin. It is a growing part of the health and beauty industry because your skin requires ongoing care to keep it healthy and beautiful.
Some basic tips for clear skin are DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE! Stephany Cortez, State of Texas licensed esthetician at All About Me Day Spa in San Antonio, TX, says that there are three major causes of break outs and one of them is touching your face. “Your fingers have dirt, oil, and bacteria. Every time you touch your face you transfer that stuff into your pores. That is the easiest thing to not do and will save you from a pimple on your big day.” Just imagine everything you touch throughout your day and now rub it on your face. If you have to scratch or touch your face use a tissue over your fingers or Q-tips. They are soft and at the same time will take up any oil that is on your face.
Maintain a good cleaning regiment in the morning and in the evening. It is important to make sure you are taking off not only all the dirt and oils from outside elements, but also the make-up that settles into your pores. “There are a lot of cleansing products on the shelves at grocery stores and department stores, but the only way to know what you should be using is having an esthetician look at you, you do not want to strip your face of essentials or add more than you need to your oily face.” Says Stephany. There are so many products that the only way to know what to get is learning what is good and what is not. You do not take a test with out studying first if you want an A. The same holds true for your skin.
The last cause of breakouts is something most women do not think about. Your make-up tools carry most of the dirt, oil, and bacteria we are putting on our faces. Cleaning your brushes is just as important as cleaning your face. There are many brush cleaners out there, but all you really need is hot water and anti-bacterial dish soap. You can do it while you are in the bathroom washing your face. You wash your tools then leave them to air dry. They will be ready to use again in the morning. Some tools you only have to replace. The worst culprits of breakouts are your compact pads. You should change it out every week. You can get a package at your local grocery or Target. They are inexpensive and come 4 – 8 in a pack.

Finding the perfect Tiara waxing
By: Victoria Garcia

It is scary and it hurts the first time you get it done, but eventually it becomes painless and beneficial. It is the process of waxing. There are do’ and don’t to waxing and for some they have found out the hard way that you should always go with a licensed esthetician for any facial care. Stephany Cortez of All About Me Day Spa in San Antonio, TX, is here to let us know what the correct avenues are to take when it comes to your young skin. You should always have a fear factor when it comes to your skin. Especially if someone is going to put hot liquid and rip hair from your face.
Always go to a licensed esthetician for any waxing whether it is on your face or your body. The state of Texas requires the person doing the waxing to be professionally trained and licensed. Most nail places have someone who will wax, but are not licensed to wax just to do nails. You can ask them to see their license and check if they are certified to do the waxing. Do not allow someone to wax you if they are using a stick that is already been used, it will carry anything left from the last wax onto your skin. Someone who has been trained will know the hygienic of waxing. The temperature of the wax is a specific heat, if not it will cause bumps after your waxing. These are things that a proper esthetician would know. You would not get brain surgery by a knee specialist!
Waxing verses shaving is hands down a winner. When you shave you are irritating your skin more than you are helping it. Shaving only takes the hair from the surface and leaves your skin open to ingrown hair, darkening of the skin, you see this a lot in the underarm area, and the hair grows back faster so you have to shave more often. When you wax you take the hair from the folical, when this happens the hair grows back slowly. It normally will take 6 weeks to 3 months to grow back depending on how long you have been waxing. The hair also comes back much thinner and lighter. “As time goes by waxing becomes painless because you have trained body to this benefit. Because waxing is a form of exfoliation you keep your skin fresh and new, any darkness you have will disappear and you will not have to worry about it coming back as long as you keep up your waxing.” Says Stephany.
You should get any waxing done no early than a week prior to your event. There are two major reasons for this. The first reason is your make-up. Waxing is a form of exfoliation, this means when they wax your eyebrows it also takes off the dead layer of skin on that area. You will have new skin that takes 4 to 6 days to heal. When you apply your make-up it will not stick to the new skin and you will have blotchy looking skin in your pictures. The other reason you should not wax on the day or the day before your event is to stay clear of any reactions you might have. Some skin react differently to different waxes and you might have a break out. “ Going to an esthetician is beneficial in this case because they will have knowledge of your skin type and be able to do what is best for you, an unlicensed, untrained person will just wax you and send you on your way” states Stehany. “There are so many young women that do not know the best way to care for their skin and how affordable it is to see a professional.”
